Divine Teachings

Senior BFA Exhibition

Artist Statement

Divine Teachings is an exhibition full of artifacts, practices, and artwork derived from Aradism. Aradism is a concocted religion that was created as a response to my journey from Christian to Atheist. Arke, Father of Creation, and Aradia, Mother of Deconstruction, are phantom feelings that are deified as The Bearers. They have no know descriptions, only Preacher A’s artistic interpretation. The colors blue and green have been assigned to them in the depiction of their sludge from the amalgamation of souls that ended before we began. The life we lead after birth is completely up to us. You can choose to follow the way of The Bearers or you can selfishly commit sins against them. If a sacrament is broken, you will be found by a prophet whose destiny is to punish those who have gone astray. The 5 Prophets, Deidra, Kahrul, Goutam, Diotima, and Imentha, protect each sacrament individually. The Punishment of the Prophet varies from sinner to sinner and prophet to prophet. A human’s choices will affect their future. There is, however, a way to alter this future. If your soul is no longer favorable to The Bearers, a Washing can be performed. The results of this reversal ceremony can only be enacted if Aradia accepts your humble plea. Her powers do not only affect a human’s life but also their afterlife. A sinner who dies not praising The Bearers will have their soul banished to Aradia’s realm. Clean Aradists, those who have never committed a sin, become preachers. They perform rituals and sacrifices for The Bearers and The Prophets alike. Preacher A is the first and highest respected clergyperson in Aradism. They have been blessed with the power to hear The Bearers the clearest. The portraits and depictions witnessed in Divine Teachings have been created by Preacher A’s hand. While creating these pieces they experienced the power of the Sacraments bearing down on them. Their job is to present the word of Arke and Aradia into the ears of the entire world. This exhibition, Divine Teachings, will present you with new ways of thinking.
